Creating Memories

There is nothing more exciting than new life. The moment you find out you are pregnant, the thought crosses your mind and the guessing begins “Am I having a baby boy or a baby girl”

Nowadays, having a Gender Reveal is common. There are many ways to go about creating these memories. (And I am sure many people will have their own opinions, making it even more exciting )

As I love capturing pregnancy and new life, it was an exciting prospect being asked to photograph a gender reveal at my studio in Glasgow.

Riddhi and Anoop wanted to create some beautiful memories and we came up with some ideas. Our main aim was to capture the moment they found out their sweet baby’s gender. We would then follow this up with some beautiful portraits.

Now let me tell you, knowing the gender of a baby and not accidentally slip or make reference to it, is no easy task. During the session I found myself really thinking about my wording. I wanted this to be as special as possible.

Riddhi and Anoop decided that their main reveal would be with paint. Riddhi had a white dress and the idea was to paint Anoop’s hands, leaving a beautiful print on Riddhi’s dress when he revealed the colour. Once dry, the hand printed dress would become a beautiful keepsake.

To make sure we did this without anything being given away (and no peeking), I blindfolded Riddhi and Anoop. This meant I could paint Anoop’s hands without them seeing. Carefully, I then placed Anoop’s hands into a heart shape on Riddhi’s bump and asked Riddhi to place her hands on top.

This was the best part now….soooo much excitement and anticipation.

While I photographed the moment, I advised Riddhi and Anoop to be led by themselves in the moment and lift their hands. It was such a beautiful reveal, hands lifted to reveal a pink heart on Riddhi’s dress.

A GIRL!!

So much love and happiness, it was a joy to photograph and be a part of their special moment.

We followed this with some beautiful portraits and memories of the session.
